The prom season has come in U.S! Senior student will enjoy this event!
By the way, do you know the PROM?
We will decide one topic, and study, presentation about American culture In American Affair class. And them, we got a good information about prom. So, I will introduce about it.

In the United States and Canada a prom, short for promenade, is used to describe a semi-formal graduation dance party. It is held at the end of an academic year. It will be usually held between July and September. As a rule, student can attend the prom as a couple. Your date can be anyone; for example boy friend, classmate, graduated student. They call the partner “date”. The attendance is not compulsory. Generally, boy ask girl out to the prom.

The hall is usually their high school gym, or hotel. At the hall, rock in roll band or DJ will come, and they arouse students at the prom to enthusiasm. The Rock music is standard number as a buck ground Music, and lately, the HIP-HOP is also popular among them.

Proms were first mentioned in the high school yearbooks of the 1930s and 1940s, but historians believe they may have existed as early as the late 1800s. Proms first began in the elite colleges of the Northeast. High school proms began in the early 1900s, they were relatively simple affairs. The high school prom expanded into a yearly class banquet at which seniors arrived in party clothes and danced.
Present day, Prom is one of the most exciting events. So, They, especially girls want to have fun so much!!

Students will prepare for the Prom from before 2 or 3 month.
In Prom, Boys usually dress a tuxedo, sometimes with brightly colored cummerbunds or vests, and boutonnieres. Girls usually wears formal dress, and then, she dress up her hair and make-up. She put on a corsage. After dressed up they changes so wonderful!
Traditionally, girls gave boys matching boutonnieres to be worn on their tuxedos or waistcoats. Girls traditionally wear adorned with a corsage given to them by their dates.

On the very day of the prom, some students get together, and ride in the same limousine. And they goes to a good restaurant by limo, and have a dinner.
After the dinner, they arrive at the hall.
When the couple comes in the hall, they have photographer take a picture. They pose for a good picture each other. This picture will be a great memory in their life. And then, DJ or music band begin to play the music. Many students enjoy dancing, and chatting.
In the end of the prom, there is a big entertainment. It is election of prom King&Queen. Many participant votes for candidates and decide them. The couple who was elected will be given a crown and big bouquet. And they will be taken a picture by many students.

But, some problems are existed. One is the cost. Cost of the prom is one of the biggest problems. They need a very big money for a dress, corsage, admission fee, transport expense (limousine) ,food bill…etc.
Some of students who don't have any money can't attend the prom.
And also, underage drinking potential is serious problem.
Some students join Anti-Prom (morp) because of these reasons.
Prom is formal style party. At the prom only popular people (Jock and　Queen bee）are conspicuous. And more, sexual problem (gay or les),Religious problem are big problem.

Anyway, prom is alien customs to Japanese. So, although this event has some problems, we aspire to attend it.
There are some movies that prom is as a main topic of it in U.S. She's all that, Never been kissed, 10things i hate about you, is very very popular movies. If you are interested in Prom, you will enjoy it! ( 642 words) 　　

Book review 1- 13 Food and Drink in Britain

I read about food and drink in Britain.
In this book, we will look at some of the different things the British eat and drink today.
In my image, famous food and drink in Britain is potato, bean, and tea. My image was not wrong. In Britain, potato is one of the most important or staple foods in British diet.
Potato first came from South America. In Peru, farmers grew them from the 13th century. And then, the Spanish brought them back to Europe in 16th century. In the 17th century, potatoes were introduced to the British and later, they became an important food. Because, when many people died because of disease and crops failed, the potato could be harvested then. Today, the British grows million tones of potatoes every year. And most people eat over a hundred kilograms a year. They can also make potato soup, potato bred, potato salad or use up in a dish. Potato is more popular during the W.W.Ⅱ because although it was difficult to find some foods, potatoes could be bought. Today, many shops and supermarket sells a variety of potatoes.
And, I think the word “England” always reminds us “tea”. Although coffee has become very popular in Britain in recently years, tea is still the national drink. Over 25 million cups of tea are sold every day, and many million cups of tea sold everyday, and millions are made at home in Britain. The history of tea in Britain was started in 17th century. Tea was brought from china. At first it was very expensive. So, few people could buy it. In 18th century, it was drunk so much in Britain. By the late 18th century, Britain became a centre of the world tea business. Since 19th century, tea has been brought to Britain from India, Africa, and Sri Lanka like China. Today, there are over 1500 different kinds of tea in Britain. For example, Assam, Darjeeling, Oolong, Earl Grey and English Breakfast. Each one has a different smell and taste. ( 350 words )

I got a comment from KGU student!

On Saturday, something happy happened in my blog. Actually, other writing class student has commented to my blog! The student was a girl, and a sophomore of Mr. Beaufait’s class. And, she told me that she was seeking an interesting blog topic among all KGU writing class. She was interested in my topic, and read it. Then, she decided to my blog topic is the most interesting for her. So, she put introduction of my topic on her blog, and introduced.
I was so surprised and very glad. Because, she elected that my topic is most interesting! And then, I was very glad that the person who is a stranger to me sent the message! I am a transfer student, so, I often feel that I can’t adapt my self to university, and I have thought nobody watch and read in my blog. But, after received this message, I felt that I am a member of KGU student.
I also will visit other student’s blog, and send a comment as possible as I can. (181words)

Drinking at Jeff’s Bar

On Friday night, I and my high school friend went to Jeff’s bar.
The prompt to go to bar was conversation at English Lounge on Friday 5th period.
There　were 2 international students, Chris Kate, and 3 students including me. Then, Chris told us he is going to go to Jeff’s Bar tonight with international friend. So, he invited us and Kate to go to the Bar. I like to drink at the Bar, and I thought that I want to drink with international friend. So, I answered “yes” to his invitation. After English Lounge, I asked high school friend by phone to go to the Bar with me. Since she has ever often been to Jeff’s Bar, and she like there, she gave a ready answer “yes!”
In 8:00 PM, we made it at Daiei in Shiotori, and went to the Bar. Since the Bar has just opened, no guests were there. We ordered a beer, and toasted. During enjoy chatting with her, gradually guests has began to come. After, some international students came to there. We gave a toasted each other. I drunk so much and had a good time. But my friend had to go home because she works her job tomorrow. And I was also sleepy, we have left there at 11:00 PM.
Since I usually go home at midnight when I went for drink at downtown, I felt that it was not satisfactory to me. However, I had a good time to get an opportunity to drink with international students. (259words)

I. I usually make a blog when I stay and be relaxing in my room. I write bookreviews and essay because it is assignment. I often write movie and music essay. In making this blog topic, I often add some pictures and animation from web and you tube.

II. The good point in this blog is that it is very good practice to make English composition. Because we have to look up a word in a dictionary when I explain what I want to describe although I don’t know the English word. If I look up a dictionary and check some words, this blog improve my English skill.
The bad point, I have no idea about this. Exactly, the rule when we make a blog is quite strict, but, if there are no rules when we make a blog, almost students will be lazy. So, some rules are necessary because this is a class, and we have to not be given a credit, but get it.

III. Summary and advice to other students is I think it is to enjoy make a blog. It is no problem to use easy and simple words to make composition of blog. And some item of the topic is anything OK. I also post for my interesting news or movie, music. And sometime I am using YOU TUBE. It is good for posting with animation. So, please no thinking difficulty, enjoy it! (262words)

Now, I am watching this movie.

This movie title is 「10things I hate about you」
this story is set in one high school in U.S.
In this school students are exciting about prom, one of the big events for their lives.
The transfer student Cameron fell in love with Bianca who is the most popular girl in this high school, at first sight. He tried to ask her to the prom party, however she can’t go. She is not that she doesn’t want to, but she can’t to. Because, her father is very strict about her school life, especially dance and drink party. The father is an obstetrician, and he doesn’t want his sweet daughter to be a bad girl. But, Bianca insists that she do want to go to the party. So, the father had an idea, it is that if her first daughter Kat will goes to the party, Bianca also will be able to go there.
But, this first daughter Kat is what is called “obstinate and trouble maker”. She is stubborn, ironic, and she hate for boys so much. It looked too hard to ask Kat to go to the party. So, Cameron asked Patrick who is famous for odd person, and juvenile delinquent to ask Kat out to the Party, and he paid some money as a reward to Patrick.
Bianca is so popular in this school that of course another boy tries to ask her out to the party.
First, Kat hates Patrick so much, however, she gradually opens her mind to him because he is handsome, and do some romantic behaves. Although Bianca has an air of romance with Joey who is good looking guy, she becomes be bored about his dull talking and narcissism. And after, she falls in love with Cameron who indicates that her bad point although his appearance is inconspicuous.
Can you imagine the ending of their loves…??

The reason why I will watch this movie, is now I am taking an American affair class. And we were given an assignment that to introduce about American culture. Our group has decided to introduce about ｢prom｣. This movie has shown well about the contents of prom and reactions of students and movements about the prom, so I thought that I will get many good hints from this movie that we want have. The story of this movie is romantic comedy, so I think that girls will be enjoyed in this movie.
Personally, I like these scenes that Patrick is singing with brass band at the ground,


and Kate reads the poem that the title is 10 things I hate about you.

Book review 1-12 「California」

Do you know about the California? Now, California is one of the most famous states all over the world. Over million people visit this state every year. This state is also famous American film business, computers, and wine. It is wonderful place to stay or live there. But only 150 years ago, it was just a land of desert and mountains. What happened during 150 years?
California became a free state in 1850. 2 years before this year, very important event happened in this state. On January 24, 1848, Mr. Marshall who was working on the land where was later to become the city of Sacramento found something bright and yellow in a river. He discovered small pieces of gold! After this event, many news paper companies told the story of Marshall’s discovery. The news has been spread across the world, and soon, a lot of men from all over the world started to come to this state. They wanted to find gold, and be rich. They were often called “Forty-niners” because most of them arrived in 1849. This was started of the Gold Rush.
Soon, this state became big and had many big cities. By 1852, there were more than 100,000 prospectors in California. And then, in the 1860, people discovered something new in the ground. They called it black gold. Because it soon made them very rich. Do you know what it is? It is oil.
There are the summaries of the history of CA. and today, there are many beautiful and lively cities in CA. For example, San Francisco, Monterey, Los Angeles, San Diego, Long Beach, Anaheim.
I have ever been to CA for a month as a home stay. And I have been to many sightseeing spot in CA, like Hollywood, Disney land, universal studio. CA has hot and dry climate through a year, and temperature goes up to over 30℃ in every day time, and fall under 10℃ in night time because of desert climate. It has almost sunny days through a year.
CA has many attractive places to sightseeing or travel. But, if you leave from megalopolis and go to the nature place, you will find great nature! It is very magnificent, and emotional. If you are planning to go to CA, I recommend that you should go both place city and nature. It must be fun! (395words)
